Cleveland - Apple Maps

from Apple Maps

Two weeks ago in San Francisco, I walked past a couple of guys in my hotel lobby wearing tutus, and pretty much nothing else. No one – not me, not the hotel staff, not my kids — batted an eyelash. And so it goes in San Francisco, where my vacation last month coincided with the city’s Pride festival, a major rainbow-hued celebration of LGBT progress in a place that perhaps best defines what it means to be gay friendly.

“Cleveland doesn’t have to be San Francisco,” said John Tanzella, executive director of the International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association, a Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based group that connects LGBT travelers to gay-friendly businesses around the world. All it has to be, he said, is safe and welcoming.
